🇲🇫Saint-Martin (French part)

Saint-Martin is an overseas collectivity of France located in the Caribbean. It occupies the northern one-third of the island of Saint Martin, the southern two-thirds forming the Dutch territory of Sint Maarten.

The island is mountainous, with the highest point being Mount Paradise. The climate is tropical marine, with warm temperatures and consistent trade winds year-round. The coastline is characterized by numerous bays, beaches, and coral reefs.

Saint-Martin's culture is a vibrant blend of French, Creole, African, and Caribbean influences. French is the official language, but Antillean Creole is widely spoken. Cuisine is a highlight, featuring fresh seafood and local spices. Music and dance play a significant role in celebrations.

Originally inhabited by the Arawak peoples, the island was later settled by the French in the 17th century. It has a history of colonial rivalries and was divided between France and the Netherlands in 1648. Until 2007, it was part of the Guadeloupe region.
