Mozambique is a southeast African country bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east and sharing land borders with Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. It is known for its rich cultural heritage, diverse ecosystems, and growing economy.

The country covers 801,590 km², featuring a long eastern coastline, numerous lakes on the northern plateau, and a mix of savanna, mangrove swamps, and tropical forests. Mozambique's terrain is by the Ruvuma and Zambezi rivers.

Mozambique's culture blends African traditions with influences from Portuguese colonial rule, Swahili trade, and Bantu peoples. Languages spoken include Portuguese (official), Swahili, and many local Bantu dialects. Music genres such as marrabenta and tsapatsapa, along with vibrant dance and folklore, reflect the nation’s artistic diversity.

Pre-colonial history involved the spread of Bantu peoples and the establishment of trading communities. Portugal arrived in the 16th century and claimed Mozambique, making it a key node in the Atlantic slave and spice trade. Independence in 1975 after a protracted liberation movement led to successive socialist and democratic phases, shaping modern governance and socio-economic reforms.
